NFPA 70E Arc Flash Analysis and Safety
Over the last 10 years, the NFPA and OSHA have added new safety regulations in NFPA 70E, pertaining to protecting personnel in industrial environments from arc flash injuries. As electricians, we have always been trained in proper Lockout/Tagout procedures, and have taken time to educate ourselves on, and practice, the new arc flash safety regulations and labeling. Beyond that, we perform, in partnership with others, NFPA 70E Arc Flash Analysis. We can offer surveys, identification of risks, compliance options and installation, and wiring services for compliance and arc mitigation.
A client was in need of improving compliance with arc flash safety regulations. We performed a survey of the necessary electrical circuits, including creating and assessing diagrams of the as-built circuitry, and capturing thermal imaging to ensure safe operation. We were able to affordably redistribute circuits to decrease the load on any potentially hazardous conductors, to route all circuits through approved safety devices to ensure compliance with all NEC regulations, and allow for shutdown procedures, with transparent, compliant lockout/tagout.
